Bostin' News: Meet the Content Editors

We’re delighted to announce that we have commissioned four content editors and an editorial assistant to help us produce the first edition of Bostin’ News.

Each editor has been tasked with producing two pieces of their own work and commissioning three others to do smaller pieces that can be used both online and in our printed newspaper.

Over the coming weeks we’ll be working together to create this new content that will showcase work currently being produced across the Black Country.

Anneka French - writer and editor
Anneka’s work includes the position of Editorial Manager at digital contemporary art magazine ‘this is tomorrow’, writing for publications including Art Quarterly, Photomonitor and a-n news and producing web-based editorial content as part of her role at the visual arts network for the region, New Art West Midlands. In addition to art journalism Anneka also produces texts and poetry as part of her own artistic practice.

Tim Brinkhurst - music producer and writer
In a long career Tim’s productions have won the Mercury prize (Young Fathers) and he has been nominated for an Ivor Novello songwriting award twice. As well as many albums written and recorded Tim has also composed and/or designed sound for around twenty professional theatre shows. Since moving to Bearwood two years ago he has been working on a new collaborative project (IKLAN) which will see its first release in a few weeks.

Heather Wastie - poet, singer, songwriter, accordion player, performer and facilitator
Heather has published seven poetry collections, was Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2015-16 and was Writer-in-Residence at the Museum of Carpet in 2012. Heather’s commissions and performances include oral history interpretations, Black Country poems and songs, a Nationwide Building Society ad and tours with Alarum Theatre. She has edited books and put together a one-woman Black Country show ‘Wum Med, Wum Growed’.

Louise Bloomfield - theatre practitioner and project producer
Louise is the founder and Director of a new not-for-profit social enterprise that is dedicated to supporting people and communities to grow and bloom through creativity and the arts. Her extensive networks include local arts therapists, theatre-makers, musicians, dancers, and crafters.

Eve Orford - culture critic
Eve is a final year student at the University of Birmingham who has, very nearly, completed a BA in Classical Literature and Civilisation. Eve also writes for the student-led newspaper and online publication at the University of Birmingham ‘Redbrick’ as a culture critic.
