Fragments - project update from Hannah

Hannah Taylor has been producing the Fragments Archive - a project that looks at the impact shielding has been having on members of the public from the Black Country and how they are responding to it.

Hannah has sent an update as we head to day 100:

The Fragments project is half way through now and it's seen some very upsetting responses.

When the project first started, people were only into the first month or so of shielding, however now, the reality of what the letter means and how it will affect their lives is starting to set in. The 5th response saw a very emotional and genuine reflection on mental health, how this hasn't been acknowledged during the restrictions set on the Extremely Vulnerable and neither has the financial impact long term.

The 6th response was from a trained counsellor who is isolating due to a previous diagnosis of lung cancer. Her response was very interesting because she mirrored back and analysed everyone else's emotions, taking them on board and providing real empathy for those she heard were suffering around her. But her voice was somewhat lost, overwhelmed by others.

Everyone remembers that they cannot see people for 12 weeks, but no one so far has felt positive or supported in this enormous restriction that's been placed upon them.

This week we will be over 100 days of shielding at home.
