Creative Connections - Life From My Doorstep
LAUNCH OF ‘LIFE FROM MY DOORSTEP’ PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT AND COMPETITION
As we all sit in lockdown awaiting lifting of restrictions, for many of us it’s been a difficult year. The Life From My Doorstep project team are inviting people living across Wordsley, Kingswinford and Stourbridge to share with them what has kept you going during lockdown with photographs that capture the joy and beauty to be found on our doorsteps.
This is a joint project between Bridgit Bergstrom and Simon Riley of Sion Bree Photography and Sarah New of New Wellbeing; founder of Street Food Affair and Wordsley Together.
“We have joined forces to help capture life during lockdown during these historic times. Our project is both a photographic and commemorative project.
We invite people to join our Facebook group @LifeFromMyDoorstep and submit photographs they have taken on and from their doorsteps, in their gardens or on their daily walk.
Stourbridge based photographers Bridgit Bergstrom and Simon Riley will be providing helpful suggestions and tips on how to take photographs on their phone or camera. We welcome everyone, no matter what their skill level and no matter what camera they use, to take part.
All of these photographs will be collated and preserved for future generations to look at and see what their ancestors have gone through.
Over the next month we will announce weekly themes to inspire people and help them capture life around them.
We can’t wait to see your photos and what you have discovered in your back garden, on a walk, or in the local area. We want to discover how nature has helped you for example through watching birds or admiring trees and flowers.
Perhaps your family members, people in your street or pets or something else has kept you going this past year? Help us collectively capture the spirit of lockdown and appreciate where we live. These images will be capturing a very unique time in history and it is important to share everyday scenes and experiences for future generations to learn from.
We will decide, by public vote, and the professional photography judges, which photographs will gain the accolade of being printed and going into a local exhibition. Even if you don't want to enter the competition, please join our group and vote and comment and join into the spirit and intention of this effort to capture this final phase of historical lockdown.”
