YAM CAMS launches in the Black Country - Call out for people to take part in a new photography project.

Yam Cams is a new photography project, that launched this month, which aims to inspire people to photograph everyday life in the four Black Country boroughs: Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Commissioned by Creative Black Country, Yam Cams will encourage people across the region to take a closer look at their local environment and view it with a fresh eye.

Tom Hicks came up with the project idea and says:

“Yam Cams would like to receive images from people across the Black Country. The photographs can feature any subject, we’re aiming to reflect the diversity of life in our region.

The project is open to individuals, community groups and societies. All we ask is that the photographs are taken in the Black Country. You don’t need any prior photography experience to take part either.”

Images will be displayed on the Instagram @TheYamCams and Twitter account @theyamcams where people will be able to see what has been submitted so far.

A book will also be produced that will include some of the images received during the project and  anyone whose photograph is featured will receive a free copy.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

If you have a photo you’d like to send you can email them to theyamcams@gmail.com. If the photographs are large email a link to your images via the free file sharing service www.wetransfer.com.

Don’t forget to send Yam Cams some info about your photos:

“We’d like to know a bit about the photos; where they are taken, who is in them, why you wanted to take them”. Says Tom. “It would be great for us to gather a snapshot of life in the Black Country.”
