Yam Cams Exhibition launch
Picturing the Black Country
Wolverhampton School of Art is pleased to announce the launch of a new exhibition: Yam Cams: Picturing the Black Country on Saturday 26 February 2022, 11:00 – 13:00.
The Yam Cams community art project was created with the aim of inspiring people to photograph everyday life in the four Black Country boroughs: Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Commissioned by Creative Black Country, Yam Cams encouraged ordinary people across the region to take a closer look at their local environment and view it with a fresh eye. The results of the project have now been brought together in an exhibition at the Wolverhampton School of Art.
Artist Tom Hicks created the project and says: “Yam Cams has been such a positive and popular project. We’ve been sent so many wonderful photographs from people across the Black Country.
It’s fantastic that Wolverhampton School of Art have chosen to exhibit the images from the Yam Cams project. These are photographs from across the Black Country and for most people involved it will be the first time that they have had their work exhibited”
A book has been created to accompany the Yam Cams project and will be available at the exhibition launch – free of charge.
Venue: Wolverhampton School of Art, Wolverhampton, WV1 1SA
Following the exhibition launch the team invite everyone to visit the touring British Art Show 9 which is currently showing at Wolverhampton School of Art and Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
