Poster Positivity is designed to increase unity and wellbeing in Sandwell by sharing images of hope and happiness around the community. The project is run by Foka Wolf, a satirical artist who uses posters in his work to tackle serious issues with humour.

Foka Wolf has created his subversive art for over a decade, working across mediums including murals, illustration and street art paste-ups. He tackles big issues by mixing serious social and political commentary with lots of humour and a big dollop of surrealism. His street art has garnered national attention and featured in media including Time Out and the BBC.

The idea for Poster Positivity was born when Foka spotted hand-painted and coloured rainbows in windows around Sandwell during his government-mandated hour’s exercise. He found these window displays made him and his family feel a sense of hope and oneness with their neighbours, something which this project aims to increase, capture and disseminate.

During this project, and the whole lockdown period, however long it carries on, Foka Wolf will connect with audiences using social media, curating an online gallery of posters, window displays and public art dealing with the Covid-19 crisis. Works will be submitted using the hashtag #posterpositivity on Instagram and Twitter.
