Join poetry and animation workshops this December and January
Dudley Creates presents 'Portrait of a Place' poetry workshop with Nafeesa Hamid (on 7th December + 11th January) + animation workshops in January.
Come along to our free poetry workshops with poet and playwright Nafeesa Hamid. Nafeesa will guide you through a series of fun exercises to help you discover your poetic voice through writing and editing.
Each session will contain a starter, warm up and longer writing exercise. The purpose of each exercise is to help you generate ideas for poems, which you can then work on with space and time outside of the sessions. So there is no pressure to produce a completed poem by the end of sessions!
Session 1 - 7th Dec: We will be creating Lunes and Haikus, inspired by the themes of journey, adventure and place.
Session 2 - 11th Jan: We will be creating Golden Shovels inspired by the music and lyrics you enjoy listening to/ listened to growing up
Following the workshops, you’ll have a chance to put your poetry to a short film (if you choose to), either made by you at our animation workshop hosted by Sarah Taylor Silverwood, or helped by the team in early 2022.
You must be aged 16 or over to attend this workshop. No previous experience is necessary.
Places are free to each session but are limited. Priority will go to residents who live in the Black Country. Workshops will be held on Zoom.
The ZOOM INFO will be emailed to you direct once you have registered.
This project has been commissioned by Dudley Creates on behalf of Creative Black Country.
