Creative Communities PODCAST: In Walsall with writer David Calcutt at the Creative Factory

CBC Creative Adviser Laura chats to David who shares how he collaborated with the team at the Creative Factory and how they set up a writing group.

The group led to participants taking part in live readings with audiences and a significant growth in creative confidence, as well as having an impact on David himself.

“People come along and maybe don’t write very much or haven’t written before, and they come out with a phrase that makes you gasp. You can’t put a price on that.

It’s always relearning that people can have so much to offer, and so much creativity to offer, if they are just given the opportunity. All it takes is a space, and someone who is willing to listen and give them the opportunity, and give them permission in a sense, and say; 'look you can do this’."

If you feel inspired by what you have read or heard and have an idea (or seeds of an idea) for a co-created project in your community get in touch with the Creative Adviser in your area.
