BOSTIN NEWS - the next edition is OPEN for commissions

WANTED: Alongside our friends at Fused Magazine we are commissioning local Black Country (Dudley Borough, Sandwell, Walsall, Wolverhampton) creative writers, illustrators, photographers, and artists to contribute to the next editions of BOSTIN NEWS!

We’re excited to celebrate the incredible creativity thriving in our community and want to put a spotlight on the diverse and vibrant artistic expressions that make the Black Country unique.

There’s a wealth of talent among our fellow Black Country residents, and Bostin News aims to be a hub of inspiration and connection, showcasing the best of what our creative minds have to offer.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Are you a writer, photographer, illustrator, or storyteller? Do you have a creative story that deserves to be shared? Maybe you’ve witnessed or participated in an inspiring project, or you know someone who’s crafting something extraordinary right here in the Black Country.

We want to share these stories with the world—whether through words, photography, illustrations, sound, or a blend of all of these. Your unique perspective can help us bring these stories to life.

Thanks to a project grant from Arts Council England, we’ll be producing multiple editions of Bostin News and have the budget to pay for your submissions (starting from £250). Let’s showcase the amazing creative talent in our community together!

What you need to do:

Send an email with your pitch / idea to kerry@creativeblackcountry.co.uk. Please include:

  • Your name and contact info

  • Where you live (just the town / start of postcode for now is fine)

  • What your idea is in a couple of paragraphs that includes: Who, what, when, where and why (we’ll come back to you to find out more if we want to take it further)

  • A link or image of the person / project / group / people you want to write about

  • Whether you know the person / project contact or have spoken to / have access to the person you want to write about - if not how might you approach them?

  • Maybe you are a creative yourself. In which case we’d love to know more about you and why you think we should feature you - please don’t be shy!

Deadline for submissions is: Friday 13th September at 5pm.

Bostin News is a POSITIVE publication that shares the good news stories of culture and creativity across the Black Country. However, we are also happy to look at more challenging subjects if appropriate. This is a space for creative exploration and for inspiring others to have a go, take part and find out more.
